December 2nd – First Sunday Of Advent And Communion: Hope

10:30 a.m. Worship, Rev. Dee preaching, “An Honest Hope.” Today we begin our Advent journey together in worship with candle-lighting and Communion as we reflectively wait the coming of Jesus.

12:00 noon, Our Advent Study begins after worship in library. We will be reading Names for the Messiah: An Advent Study (paperback, 2016) by leading scholar, Walter Brueggeman. See more on this book study.

December 8th – Putz Building

8 a.m. Our joyful tradition of setting up the Putz, a three-dimensional storybook of the Nativity stories happens this day.  Come join the fun!  Great hands-on activity for children, adults, families of all ages.  No experience required!  The Putz is a Moravian tradition that has lovely lighted scenes of the Nativity and it is used throughout the season in our sanctuary.  Please contact church office for more details or just show up!

December 8th – Women’s Spirituality Group

10 a.m.-12 noon The Women’s Spirituality Group meets in Pastoral Counseling Office. Let’s look at Advent from a woman’s perspective; take a bit of time for reflection and sharing with other women of faith. And as we close out the calendar year and usher in a new liturgical year, let’s celebrate with some Christmas cookies and cider as well.

December 9th – Second Sunday Of Advent: Peace

10:30 a.m. Worship, Rev. Dee preaching, “Losing Your Head for Peace.”

12:00 noon, Our Advent Study continues after worship in library. We will be reading Names for the Messiah: An Advent Study (paperback, 2016) by leading scholar, Walter Brueggeman.

December 13th – Taize Service

7:00 p.m. in Sanctuary.  Please join us for a lovely meditative evening service to help you to pause during this season of waiting.  Music will be provided by BUCC’s own Kathleen Meredith and Maria de la Cerda Rohde with play flute.

December 16th – Third Sunday Of Advent: Putz And Pageant Sunday: Joy

10:30 a.m. Worship, Special Children’s Putz Pageant with Carol Singing during Worship followed by a yummy ADVENT POTLUCK in Fellowship Hall with festive music and gathered friends.  Invite a new-comer, neighbor, or friend!

December 23rd – Fourth Sunday Of Advent: Love

10:30 a.m. Worship, Rev. Dee preaching, “Believing in Fulfillment.”

12:00 noon, Our Advent Study concludes after worship in library. We will be reading Names for the Messiah: An Advent Study (paperback, 2016) by leading scholar, Walter Brueggeman.

December 24th – Christmas Eve Service

7:00 p.m., Welcome the birth of Jesus Christ into the world with a joy-filled worship of music, singing, special readings, candle-lighting, and prayers of hope and well-being for our times!  Before the service there will be a Wassail Bowl in the Narthex. Come early and enjoy warm cider and cookies before the service.

December 25th – A MERRY AND BLESSED CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS!

No formal worship this day.

December 30th – New Year’s

10:30 a.m. Worship, Start the New Year with God! Rev. Jean Thompson will be preaching this day.  We will welcome back Alice Laurissa Harris as our guest musician.

January 6th – Epiphany Celebration

10:30 a.m. Worship, Rev. Dee preaching, “Intentional Detours.”

January 13th – Baptism Of Christ Sunday: Special All-Congregation Renewal Of Baptismal Vows

10:30 a.m. Worship, Rev. Dee preaching, “Not Me…”  Do you remember your baptism?  Whether baptized or not, join with your church friends and family for a special ritual renewal of the promises made at our baptism.  All are welcome to participate and you do not have to have been baptized to receive a special blessing this day!  If you are not baptized and wish to be baptized on this date, please contact Rev. Dee to arrange.
